Incomplete applications will not be considered for further review. Phase One, on-line testing is administered by an independent assessment organization and consists of written exercises designed to evaluate problem-solving skills, interpersonal orientation and temperament. Testing date is in Saturday, February 12, Testing will take place online only. Several criteria are used to determine who continues on to phase two: on-line testing score, application responses, including relevant work, life experience, and recommendations.

Applicants requesting testing accommodations must submit official documentation of disability with application. If accepted, the Trainee must reside in the New York City vicinity.

Most of the productions that will be assigned are in the greater New York area. There is no need to have a car here in NY. If public transportation is not available near the shooting location, transportation will be provided by the production.

While it is not a requirement for a Trainee to work on a location job, the opportunity does arise from time to time. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to join the Directors Guild of America in the category of 2nd Assistant Director. Trainee weekly salary rates increase over the two year period on a quarterly six month basis as follows:.

Trainees are entitled to overtime pay after working 54 hours in a week. Trainees generally work between hours during a 5 day work week. While participating in the Program, Trainees are provided with health insurance, at no cost.

Trainees are required to attend regularly scheduled monthly seminars. They are generally held on Saturdays. Designed to increase knowledge of the Industry, these seminars cover a wide range of related topics.

They are conducted by such professionals as ADs, UPMs and various representatives and craftspeople from other film unions. Through these seminars, Trainees have the opportunity to learn more about topics such as film editing, stunts and safety, setting background actors and sound mixing. Acceptance into the Program is not a guarantee of graduation.

Trainees are graduated upon successful completion of all requirements of the Program, at which time they are eligible to join the DGA as Second Assistant Directors.
